Environmental legacy Tree planting

Why Environmental Legacy Tree Planting program?

The Environmental legacy tree planting program commenced in 2014 with the first tree being planted by GoFree Uganda Founder Akuwa Derick and Co-Founder Madelon Eelderink at Serenada Eco-Resort in collaboration with the Eco-resort management. Here is the picture of the first planted Prunus Africana tree.

Our Vision Statement

We envision a world where people and environment co-exist while preserving the natural resources of the planet.

Forests and vegetation play a key role in sustainable development. Our tree planting project efforts aim to combat climate change challenges, recharge watersheds, improve biodiversity, and restore wildlife habitats in the simplest of means based on our capacity.

Through the practice of recreational bicycle tours and bicycle safaris we have witnessed massive deforestation and tree cutting in various parts and regions of Uganda in general. Those that practice deforestation have different reasons to back their practice and some do make logical sense based on their reasoning however there is limited and in some cases no afforestation practices to ensure that the trees being cut are being replaced or saved by replanting. Now we could all sit tight and wait for the government to command us to plant trees or wait until someone else realizes that something is terribly going south until we start thinking of planting tree but we choose to start planting and sharing what we envision with the communities we engage based on our resource capital. Global warming is high in topics discussed around the world, what have you done to contribute towards mitigating and ensuring a better secure eco environment in your respective community or means? It’s not in the biggest of gestures that change happens but rather in the consistent simplest and smallest of practices that leave a long lasting impact on the beautiful home we all love and cherish “Earth”

Plant today impact change tomorrow

Each planted tree we sponsor or donate and each individual environmental legacy initiated is an investment in the future and helps impact positive change and environment Eco-development.

Environmental legacy tree planting practice is an Eco-drive focused on innovative eco actions that help generate local solutions to global challenges in the best way possible given our resource base.

Through grass-root community-based partnerships, initiatives, knowledge sharing, collaboration, and education, we advocate and encourage tree planting as a tool towards achieving Eco sustainable development.

When you plant a tree under the environment legacy drive we take on the task of updating you by sending you pictures so you can watch your environmental legacy live on and grow! Each planted tree helps to conserve the environment, protect vital watersheds and wildlife habitats, and provide employment in rural communities. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now. – Chinese Proverb

We innovate and encourage local Eco-solutions to global challenges by partnering with grass-root communities and projects. We practice the tree planting environmental legacy project by encouraging all our clients, supporters and bicycle tour participants to plant or sponsor a tree through a practice of the Tree Fund drive aimed at others supporting the environmental legacy practice which is aimed at Promoting environmental Eco-development and Eco practice awareness through community engagement with hope of restoring vital ecosystems, Improve biodiversity through planting various tree species with keen focus on medicinal and fruit tree species.

“Do a little bit of good wherever you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
Desmond Tutu

Excess carbon dioxide (CO2) caused by many factors is a building up in our atmosphere and contributing to climate change. Trees absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air.
